When you use E2EE (End-to-end encryption) to send someone an email or message.

No one in the network provider can see the content of your message even hackers and government organizations can not do this.

End-to-end encryption is different from the encryption method that most companies use.

It will only protect data when transferring between your device and enterprise servers.

For example, email Provider Services like Gmail and Hotmail can access the content of your messages easily because they have encryption keys!

End-to-end encryption eliminates this possibility because the service provider does not have the decryption key.

E2EE is much stronger and safer than standard encryption. in the E2EE method, it is impossible to change and manipulate.

That’s why companies that use end-to-end encryption cannot deliver messages from their clients to government officials.

How E2EE work

How Does End-to-end Encryption (E2EE) Work?

To understand how End-to-end encryption (E2EE) works, I’ll give you an example:

Bob wants to say hello to Alice in a confidential message, only Alice’s private key can decrypt it. The public key can be shared with anyone, but the private key is only for Alice.

At first, Bob uses Alice’s public key to encrypt the message and converts the message “Hello Alice” into a coded text whose letters seem to be meaningless and random. Bob sends this encrypted message over the public Internet. By the way, this message may pass through several servers, including email provider servers and ISP servers.

These companies may want to read this message and even share it with third parties But it is impossible to convert the encrypted text into simple text!

only Alice can do this with her private key when the message reaches her inbox because Alice is the only one who has access to her private key.

When Alice wants to answer Bob, it simply repeats the process and his message is encrypted using Bob’s public key.

Advantages Of End-to-end Encryption (E2EE)

E2EE has several advantages over standard encryption that most service providers use:

  • Protects your information from hackers. E2EE means fewer groups have access to your encrypted data. if hackers attack the servers where your data is stored, They can’t decrypt your data because they do have not your decryption key.
  • Keep your information private. If you use Gmail, Google will know all the confidential details in your emails and can store your emails even if you delete them. E2EE lets you choose who allows you to read your messages.
  • Everyone has the right to privacy. E2EE has been made to protect free speech, activists, opponents, and journalists from threats.
